These portable Grade-D filtration systems are designed to provide breathing air for a specific number of workers. The system filters inlet air to provide respirator users Grade-D quality air. The first stage filters bulk water and particulate, second stage coalescing filter eliminates atomized oils, mists, and ultra-fine particulates, third stage removes organic vapors and odors. Filter change indicators are standard on all three stages. Filter efficiency is 99.99% @ .01 microns. A built-in carbon monoxide monitor operates on 9-volt DC, dual 8 - 16 volt DC or 115 VAC for continuous detection. An external alarm and light signals the worker of high CO content. Point-of-Attachment (POA) boxes can extend respirator usage beyond 300 feet. All Breather Box™ models are designed to be used in the closed position to prevent internal contamination.

The Auto-Air™ Breather Box™ system was developed to provide automatic reserve air in the event of either electrical failure or reduced pressure from the main air source while working in IDLH (Immediate Danger to Life and Health) or hazardous environments. In the event of a pressure or electrical failure, the Auto-Air™ system automatically switches to the reserve air cylinder(s). Local and remote alarms (optional) signal the workers that the primary system has failed and switched to the back-up air. NIOSH (The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) requires the use of 5 minute airline escape respirators when working in IDLH environments. The Auto-Air™ feature does not replace the NIOSH requirement, however, some work environments may require a 30 minute or longer airline escape method to safely egress the hazardous area. This situation would require the use of an Auto-Air Box™ or cart.

Quick-Connect Couplings

The couplings pictured above are the most popular styles used on airline respirators.  A coupling, which is made up of a socket and a plug, is also called a “QD” or “fitting” and comes in various socket (female) and plug (male) sizes.  Couplings can have male, female, or hose barb ends for different types of connection.  Many manufacturers make interchangeable (equal) couplings that will fit another manufacturer’s style; most manufacturer make an interchange style of coupling that is compatible with other brands on the market.

Remote Alarms

These remote alarm units have been designed to duplicate local alarms found on the primary equipment such as the Breather Box™ to signal workers in a remote location that there is an alarm condition with their system.  They act as a valuable early-warning device for the isolated worker and allows him to make a safe egress from a hazardous work environment.
Please Note:  Portable Breather Box™ units require DC alarms.  Wall mount filter panels require AC alarms.  In order to ensure you order the correct alarm system for your model, please contact Customer Service. Be sure to have the model number of your existing unit available.

The Point-of-Attachment (POA) series provides remote manifold capability for respirator users, while complying with NIOSH (The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) regulations. The POA series consists of a regulator, pressure gauge, safety relief valve, and fitting congruency necessary for proper respirator operation. The POA box can be set any distance from the Grade-D filtration Breather Box or filtration panel. Cool-BoxTM
Portable Cooling Air Distribution Manifold

Provides low cost cool air anywhere. Operates with any constant flow airline Type-C mask or hood style respirator. Ideal for cooling Level "A" chemical suits and air supplied hoods. Provides cool air for up to four workers, eliminates the need and expense of noisy vortex cooling tubes. Designed and engineered for less than 2psi pressure drop in the system with flow capacities to 70 cfm, . Provides approximately 50 degree F output air temperature with input temperatures up to 180 degree F and 75 cfm flow capacity. Requires only ice for operation which provides 4 to 8 hours of operation. Manual condensate drain installed inside, gauge, and safety relief valve installed in the system with a final filter.     Cool Air Compressor

    All air pumps deliver output air temperatures ranging between 140-189 degrees F.  The low cost solution to cool the pump's air is to order Air Systems' air pump mounted on the ASME Twin-Air™ tank/cart frame assembly.  Output air temperatures will be approximately 20 degree above the ambient temperature.  The system has large tires for ease of mobility and storage.  Each tank is supplied with a manual moisture drain valve.  A COOL-BOX ™can be ordered for additional cooling.

    Features :
    The Twin-Air™  compressor system has been designed to provide Grade-D breathing air to 3 workers wearing pressure demand respirators. The TA-3 has twin ASME receiver tanks that act as the mounting frame for the compressor. The use of the ASME tank provides air that has been cooled to within 10 degrees of the ambient temperature. We've added full pneumatic tires for ease of mobility in rough terrain and a bottom skid plate for going up or down stairs. This plates becomes the frame for the addition of a reserve air cylinder on the model TA-3EA. Any 30-60 minute air cylinder can be installed on the TA-3 frame. With the addition of a pressure reducing regulator and an Auto-Air™ Breather Box™, you now have a 3-worker compressor with full automatic backup air for IDLH operation.  This compressor is not designed for use with constant flow respirators. 

     

    The TA-1 compressor has been designed to operate 1 constant flow hood style respirator and a vortex cooling tube or 2 pressure demand airline respirators.  Grade-D filtration must be provided in the form of a 1 or 2 man Breather Box™.  The TA-1 uses a 115/230 VAC 60 Hz electrical supply and is available with an optional gasoline engine for mobile operations.

    CYLINDER AIR AND PLANT AIR ALL IN ONE CART

    The DUAL-AIR™ CART SYSTEM has been designed for the customer who needs both emergency short duration bottled air and continuous duty Grade-D plant air filtration all in one cart. The DUAL-AIR™ cart provides for both applications on one cart and allows the user to convert his existing Air Systems' Breather Box™ equipment for use on the new DUAL-AIR™ series cart. This new system saves the customer time and money and provides a level of emergency response not available in the past.

     

    The DUAL-AIR™ cart is ordered complete with a built-in high pressure (5000psi) regulator, 2 high pressure (CGA-347) connect whips with hand tight nuts, and one low pressure connect hose from the regulator. The connect hose attaches to the Breather Box™ when bottled air is required. The bottled air passes through the filter system and is distributed to the respirators through the Breather Box™ manifold and regulator system. A rear collapsible hose rack, pneumatic 10" tires, bottle straps, and front storage box are supplied standard on the DUAL-AIR™ cart system.

     

    Any size or style Breather Box™ can be bolted on the DUAL-AIR™ cart. For those customers working in IDLH environments, an Auto-Air™ Breather Box™ can be installed and provide up to 2 hours of egress air for the workers.

     DESIGNED FOR RAPID INTERVENTION AND USAR TEAMS

    Rescue professionals helped design the DRAG-BAG™ system. It is designed to be carried or dragged into the toughest rescue scenarios carrying the air, rope, hose and tools a rescuer would need during rapid intervention and rescue.

    EXTERNAL SPECIFICATIONS:
    The DRAG-BAG    ™ is constructed externally of 18oz PVC material  reinforced with 1000 denier scrim material.  The fabric is flame retardant and permanently treated to meet NFPA-701 and California Codes.   

    Two external zippered pouches:  One side pouch for holding up to 300 ft. of Kevlar rope.  This pouch has steel grommet outlets, front and rear, to allow rope to pan out without removing it from the bag.  The other side pouch is designed to hold up to 25 feet of 3/8" breathing air hose.  A reinforced "pass through" hole is provided to connect directly with the air regulator assembly inside the bag.  Reflective striping on both sides of bag.

    INTERIOR SPECIFICATIONS:
    Black reinforced PVC material.  Water and mildew resistant with 1/2" dense foam padding on top provides the strength and shock resistance for the most hazardous rescues.
     

    Three internal pouches are provided to fit different types of equipment.  One large 6"H x 17"L pouch is designed for Motorola radios with an extended battery pack. Two 4"H x 7"L pouches are provided for small equipment like a man down alarm or First-Aid supplies

    The MACK™ units have been designed as a series of portable air distribution boxes to meet the most demanding air handling needs of the Fire/Rescue industry. Each unit has been designed and tested by professional firefighters to meet the changing industry and NFPA requirements. All models have been manufactured to provide emergency low pressure breathing air from either SCBA cylinders or from a bank of large storage cylinders located on Fire Department vehicles. More advanced models offer multiple air pressure regulators for confined space rescue operations, mid-range pressure for rescue tool devices,and high pressure emergency air cylinder filling systems.     All MACK™ Series units start with the MACK-1 basic functions. One or two SCBA cylinders provide air to the system; a CGA-347 high pressure inlet is also provided to allow continuous operation from truck mounted air cylinders. A low pressure alarm whistle and a 6 volt DC lamp to illuminate the case interior are provided as standard.

    MACK-NFPA™ Series
    The MACK-NFPA™ series has been developed specifically for the Fire/Rescue teams working under NFPA guidelines. The NFPA version of the MACK™ unit comes in two standard models. Each model has two separate regulator/manifold systems. Two SCBA connect whips are provided for each regulator. In the event of a regulator malfunction, rescue can be performed on the standby regulator system. The basic unit described above, Model MACK-NFPA1, can have a regulator isolation valve added to allow one or both air sources to be used simultaneously; this addition forms the Model MACK-NFPA3 which has a CGA-347 high pressure inlet included.

    MOBILE BREATHING AIR TRAILER SERIES

    The Air Responder™ series of breathing air trailers have been designed for mobile quick response at an economical price.  These trailers provide breathing air for airline respirators, rescue air tools, or SCBA quick filling.  The Air Responder™ comes in two series.  The 100 series is an open frame (6) six cylinder trailer.

    The RESCUE-PAK™ was designed for the fire and rescue teams that want to keep all their respiratory gear in one water-tight case. Two respirators and two 50 ft. hose sections will easily store in the unit along with a single one hour 87cf air cylinder. An optional CGA-347 inlet can be installed for direct connection to an external bank of cylinders for long duration rescues. A fold down handle and roller wheels are built in the case. Standard hardware includes a dual gauge high pressure 5000psi adjustable regulator, low pressure alarm whistle, safety relief valve, CGA-347 hand tight nut, cylinder straps, and two low pressure respirator couplings.

Eight inch air duct is installed on the bottom of The Saddle Vent® and run to the bottom of the manhole.     The Saddle Vent® was invented by a professional tank cleaner to make it easy for his workers to enter and exit a confined space. The Saddle Vent® takes up only 3 inches in a manhole and functions as an air conduit.     During confined space ventilation, static electricity can build up on the surface of the ventilation ducting and the standard orange polyethylene Saddle Vent®.  Given the right conditions of humidity, airborne dust, and static build up, the static electricity can discharge and cause a spark.  If this occurs while working in an explosive or potentially explosive environment, a major accident could result.  The only safe way to prevent this source of ignition during ventilation is to remove the static electricity through proper grounding of the entire ventilation system. Standard PVC ducting and polyethylene can retain static electricity and should not be used if there is a potential for the existence of explosive gases in the confined space.

    Hazardous material vacuums are equipped with a HEPA filter system consisting of a certified absolute filter, a double layer intermediate micro filter, and a totally enclosed 2-ply disposable paper filter bag. The HEPA filter has a steel outer casing and micro-fibered glass paper filter media separated by corrugated aluminum sheeting that is encased in a protective steel screen. All HEPA filters are rated with a minimum efficiency of 99.97% at 0.3 microns. They are tested using the HOT DOP method @ 100cfm, UL 586 certified, maximum 1" resistance. All electric motor heads are provided with a remote exhaust port for 1.5" or 2.0" hose.
